Review the pros & cons of each countertop surface material offered on this website to help you decide which countertop material best meets your criteria.
The information provided is based on knowledge accumulated during my 25 years experience in the countertop industry.


Solid Surface Countertops: Corian, LG Hi-Macs, etc.


Pros:

Hygenic properties. Non-pourous, nonabsorbent.

                             Nowhere for germs, mildew to form
Ease of maintenance.  Most will clean with soap & water
Virtually stain resistant.
Design flexibility.  Seamless, integral sinks, coved backsplash
Verticle applications ie shower surrounds & full height backsplash
Repairability.  With the adhesives available, most tops can be repaired.

                          Marks & scratches can be removed easily

Excellent Warranties.


Cons:

Caution to extreme heat (biggest enemy). 

            Trivets, hot pads etc. are recommended.


Quartz Countertops:  Cambria, Silestone etc.

 

Pros:

Strong & Durable. Most quartz products are around 93% pure quartz. 

                   Experts rate quartz in the top (5) hardest minerals on earth.
NO maintenance!  Doesn't need to be resealed.
Nonporous. Nowhere for germs, mold & mildew to go. No staining. 
Excellent Warranties

Cons:

As a rule, the most expensive.


Granite Countertops:


Pros:

Virtually no end to choices of patterns & colors.          

Durability and one of a kind beauty.
Great resistance to heat & scratching.
More affordable than in previous years.
           

Cons: 

Warranties are normally not provided on material.
Visible seams.
Stone is very pourous, requiring periodic resealing.
